High Line Head Steps Down After Eight Months

Jenny Gersten will leave Friends of the High Line as the executive director after the opening of its final section which the group announced will be on September 21st.  "....to be completely honest, I wake up every morning genuinely excited," she said in February about her job.

The executive director of New York City's High Line elevated park has announced she'll step down at the end of the month, according to the Associated Press.

Jenny Gersten will leave following the opening of the park's third and final section. She'll stay on as creative consultant through the end of the year.She's been in the job for eight months.In a letter to the board of directors and supporters Ms. Gersten says she wants to return to working in the arts field full time. 

Gersten previously was artistic director of the Williamstown Theater Festival in Massachusetts.  She says she wants to focus on the kind of arts institutions and cultural programing she loves.  Co-founder and President Josh David will oversee the Friends of the High Line while the board considers its future leadership.
